Afterschool Labs StL interactive learning curriculum is project-based, structured learning and open participation. Afterschool Labs focuses on three areas: Science & Technology, Sports and Recreation and Visual and Performing Arts.

Part 1: Interactive Learning Curriculum

OPEN PARTICIPATION

The students are encouraged to participate in educational activities and technical skills learning to enhance their technical skills, job readiness training, and employment opportunities. There are three options to participate. Each student participates in at-will structured or unstructured learning. 

  • Enroll in our 12-week curriculum with instruction in various disciplines that can lead to technical certifications, college credit and in some situations an Associate’s degree. 

  • Student participation and learning is at-will with limited or no instruction. 

  • Hang out in our unstructured technology after-school space or explore different innovative technologies and disciplines in our structured learning program. 

LIFE SKILLS 

Life Skills is designed to get teens to think critically about life choices and career goals while learning how to build personal and professional relationships.

  • College and Careers: we support youth in pursuing college degrees as a means to a career in a specified field.

  • Job Readiness, Technical Skills Training: we provide on-the-job training/trades certifications to long-term employment.

  • Human Development: we promote and encourage full participation between youth of all countries, cultures and races, fostering the exchange of ideas and experiences  to improve innovation in addressing pressing issues. 

MENTORING

Mentoring focuses on the students’ life choices, career goals, personal and professional development. 

  • Small Business and Executive level management

  • Entrepreneurship: small businesses ownership and business strategies

  • Celebrities/Sports Professionals: exposure to the business side of the entertainment industry.
